To be eligible to vote in the May 2, 2026, election, voter registration applications must be postmarked by April 2, 2026.

Campaign Filing Schedule

To comply with Title 15 of the Texas Election Code, follow these clarified steps for campaign filing: 1) Complete and sign all required financial reports. 2) If you have a designated Campaign Treasurer, they may also sign and file reports. 3) Submit reports to the City Secretary according to the filing schedule, either in person at City Hall or by mail. Note that electronic submissions are not accepted (Guide to a Local Filing Authority’s Duties Under the Campaign Finance Law, 2023).

Strictly follow all financial reporting laws. Reports are public and open for review (Demystifying the Election Code, 2024).

Keep copies of all reports and documents. Meet all deadlines. Confirm report accuracy and completeness before submitting. Check with the City Secretary to verify delivery, if necessary.

Standard Election Cycle

  • 30th Day Before Election: Campaign finance report due
  • 8th Day Before Election: Campaign finance report due

Runoff Election

  • 8th Day Before Runoff Election: Campaign finance report due

Final Report

  • After the election, submit the Final Report at any time. This is your last report unless more filings are needed. Additional reports are necessary if loans remain, contributions or expenditures continue, or the campaign remains active. If you resume activity after filing the Final Report, file new reports as required by law. Once obligations are met and no funds are raised or spent, file the Final Report to complete your requirements.
  • If you do not file a Final Report, continue submitting Semi-Annual Reports as required until your campaign concludes (Campaign Finance Guide for Candidates and Officeholders Who File With Local Filing Authorities, 2026).

Election Calendar Information

May 2, 2026 Election Law Calendar

The uniform election date in May of even-numbered years is used by many local political subdivisions, including cities, school districts, and water districts, for general and special elections (Texas Election Code Section 41.001 – Uniform Election Dates, 2024). The Election Law Calendar is designed to meet the needs of these entities.

Under Section 2.025 of the Texas Election Code, the Secretary of State has designated Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the runoff election date for any runoff resulting from the May 2, 2026, Uniform Election Date (May 2, 2026 Election Law Calendar, 2026).
